Legalizing Federal Indolence

U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton’s emasculation of Arizona’s new immigration law is a slap in the face to the citizens of Arizona. Living practically in a state of siege by an illegal population surge and criminals from south of the border, the citizens of Arizona have been told by the judge to stay out of the federal government’s “bailiwick”.
The problem is that the federal government doesn’t appear to care about operating in this bailiwick. Sure, they’ve made a show of dealing with the problem by increasing the number of Border Patrol agents but it is not having a significant effect on crime and lawlessness which have increased dramatically in the past few years. The citizens of Arizona have a right to enforce federal laws pertaining to persons in the U.S. illegally when the federal government has fallen far short of doing so and jeopardized civil society in the process.
One has only to read of the incidents of mass killings in Northern Mexico and the many incidents of killings and shootouts in Arizona to appreciate the dire situation for citizens of that state. The Judge’s decision is wrong. In the absence of adequate federal action to protect the southern border, citizens of Arizona have a right to defend their society from the onslaught of illegal immigration which they are experiencing – at least until the federal government has finally provided for an air tight border security system.
